Emory University Hospital - Parking Deck

Envisioned to be a recognizable, artistic addition to the Atlanta skyline, the Emory University Hospital Midtown parking structure in downtown Atlanta sits adjacent to the busy downtown connector through the heart of the city. Built entirely of precast concrete and clad in iridescent metal panels, the façade is a representation of EUHM's commitment to the community.

Originally designed as a precast concrete structure, the 16-story parking deck offers more than 3000 parking spaces and features a glass elevator tower to the north for immediate visibility and proximity to the adjacent campus. Clad in a double-height curtainwall system, the ground level includes retail space for future development and sets a new standard for the city as leadership seeks to provide better urban integration and connectivity for both residents and commuters.

Size, schedule, and design component integration were all key project challenges. The precast system allowed for coordination and placement of attachment and beds for the roughly 3000 attached metal panels on its exterior being coordinated and accurately placed via BIM modeling.

The parking deck features a gray concrete mix with form finish and an iridescent metal curtain wall system. The final result more closely resembles a community art piece than a parking garage.
