NSH East Cobb - MOB
Anchored with a masonry base, The Buford Medical Office Building facade is elevated, with emphasis on the primary intersections of Buford Drive and Rock Springs Road is designed to reflect the site. Both entrances offer clear, elegant wayfinding for would-be patients. The interior is designed so that upon arrival, patients have a seamless transition into the facility with immediate access to vertical transportation to upper floors and specialty services.
This vertical programming is echoed in the exterior design with curtainwall recesses and lighting to further emphasize the interior elements. Another key design feature is the mullion lighting on the exterior to further accentuate the façade, as well as the continuation of two prominent corners around the sides of the building. These lights also add a dynamic aesthetic to otherwise two dimensional planes of vertical curtainwall to provide depth and character during daylight hours.
The courtyard that sits adjacent to the MOB acts as connective tissue between this facility and a potential the integration of future one. It utilizes many of the same materials and arrangements as the building to promote pedestrian interaction and function on the site for both staff and visitors. The site is located adjacent to many Gwinnett developments and residential accommodations. It was Northside's vision to bridge the divide between residential and commercial, and provide a visually-compelling facility that stood apart from more traditional medical facilities.
